Re: High Wind Warning – UPDATE #1
Dear Resident,
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for our area beginning tomorrow, December 24 at 6:00 pm through 7am Friday, December 25. The already saturated ground when combined with winds, rain and warmer temperatures can lead to downed trees and power lines and outages can occur. Please take a moment now to plan and prepare.
- Secure all outdoor holiday decorations.
- Review the steps to plan and prepare for an outage at https://www.ready.gov/power-outages
- Stay in touch with us. Review our letter ‘Communication During a Storm’ HERE.
- Register for JCP&L communication tools to easily report an outage and receive updates. https://www.firstenergycorp.com/help/communication_tools.html
We ask residents to assist us in keeping sewer drains on or near your property clear and free from leaves, trash and other debris. Clean drains allow water to run freely and helps prevent flooding. This is especially important as the warmer temperatures and rain will cause snow melt and the colder temperatures expected Saturday can lead to frozen standing water.
The Mayor’s office and Marlboro OEM have been in contact with JCP&L and they have confirmed that it is prepared to activate its storm response and Incident Command System plans. Assume all downed wires are alive and dangerous and call the Marlboro Division of Police at 732-536-0100 to report. In case of emergencies, dial 911.
I know this is not a welcome weather report at any time, but it is especially unwelcome as those that celebrate prepare for Christmas. We will update you as more is known. Have a good evening.
Mayor Jon Hornik
