Coronavirus Update #11
Dear Resident,
Good evening. This is my daily COVID-19 Update. Please note updates and adjustments to our schedule:
1. Town Hall: For the health and safety of our residents and employees, please note that all Town Hall Municipal Offices are CLOSED to the public. Every Department is staffed and can be reached by phone or email. A list of forms and extensions can be found at: https://marlboro-nj.gov/documents/forms-permits-licenses. Many services and payments are available on-line. A drop-box for payments of water, tax, pet license, parking permits, etc. is accessible in the outer lobby of Town Hall. For your own protection, do not deposit cash. Please clearly mark the outer envelope with the department name. If you would like a receipt mailed to you, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
2. Today, Governor Murphy added the following closures:
- Effective 8:00 PM tonight, all indoor retail shopping malls, amusement parks, and amusement centers across New Jersey must close until the current emergency ends. Restaurants which are located within malls, and which also have their own entrances separate from the general mall entrances, may remain open for takeout or delivery only.
- Outside of our restrictions on malls, restaurants and bars, and other businesses specifically ordered to shut down - all other non-essential retail, recreational, and entertainment businesses may remain open until 8:00 PM daily if they abide by social distancing guidelines.
- The above are in addition to Executive Order 104 restrictions announced yesterday. https://nj.gov/governor/news/news/562020/approved/20200316c.shtml
3. Township Recycle Yard will reopen starting Wednesday March 18. The yard will be opened for cardboard, comingled paper, electronics, brush and leaves only. No Bulk Items of any kind will be accepted. In order to ensure the safety of our employees and adhere to the CDC‘s requirement of “social distancing”, Township staff will not be able to assist you with placing your items in any of our containers, and we may need to limit the amount of cars in the site at one time.
4. Curbside Bulk Collection is scheduled for residents by zone and this, along with recycling and curbside debris pickup will continue as scheduled.
- Zones 2 & 4 April 20 (NOTE THERE IS AN ERROR ON THE PRINTED CALENDAR…CORRECT ON LINE)
- Zones 1 & 8 April 27
- Zones 3 & 5 May 4
- Zones 6 & 7 May 18
***Bulk is never to be at the curb more than one week prior to your pickup date, but as more residents are outside walking and biking, we ask that you especially follow these rules. It is strongly suggested that bulk items be left curbside no earlier than the weekend prior to your scheduled pick-up.
5. Inspections - At this point, inspection dates are currently being scheduled for the month of April, but will be ultimately depend upon the duration of the State of Emergency. Inspections associated with emergencies such as septic or water, unoccupied structures and outdoor facilities which allow for safe distance between residents and inspectors are being accommodated. If questions, contact the Department of Community Development at 732 536-0200 x1800.
We have been in contact with Marlboro restaurants and are compiling a list of those that are doing delivery and pickup. This will be available in the next day or so. As I stated yesterday, our grocery stores have full expectation that food deliveries will continue and that there will be an on-going supply. Some preliminary information has been received from two of our Shop Marlboro Tax Reward participating vendors:
- Tuscany located at 130 South Main Street is open from 8am to 7pm and is offering a 10% discount to all shoppers.
- Food Emporium, located at 460 Route 520 is open from 6am to 10pm. They are open for senior shopping only every day from 6am – 8pm. On line ordering is available. You can view their circular at www.foodemporiummarlboro.com. To place an order call the store at 732-772-0900 or email your list to (you will have to provide a credit card).
Students are home hopefully immersed in on-line learning, parents are working from home and our normal social activities are disrupted. This is extremely difficult, but it is necessary. It is vitally important to maintain ‘Social Distance’ as we work together to #FlattenTheCurve. Our Recreation Department is hard at work putting together a list of suggested activities, both inside and out, for people of all ages. Look for that list and the Restaurant Update tomorrow.
If you have questions about coronavirus, please contact the Monmouth County hotline at 732-845-2070 or the NJ Poison Control (COVID-19) Health Center at 800-222-1222.
