Dear resident:
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for our area beginning Saturday night (tonight) at midnight through noon on Sunday. The greatest potential for damaging wind gusts of up to 60 MPH is expected between 4am and 9am Sunday. However, there is also a possibility of a squall line producing hail and wind gusts between 10pm tonight and 1am Sunday morning.
Please secure or store any loose items such as garbage cans, flower pots, lawn ornaments, etc. as they can become dangerous projectiles in high winds.
The Mayor’s office has been in contact with JCP&L. They have activated their storm plan and have additional resources available should outages occur. High winds can cause downed power lines and tree limbs, especially trees that are already leafed and flowering. We remind you that power outages should be reported directly to JCP&L using one of the many methods available. You may call JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report your outage, click here to report your outage online or here for text messaging. Outage information is also available on JCP&L’s 24/7 Power Center Maps and on the JCP&L Facebook page. Please immediately report downed wires to JCP&L or the Marlboro Division of Police. Never go near a downed power line, even if you think it is no longer carrying electricity.
As always, the Marlboro Police are available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100. For emergencies, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. We will continue to update the public through email, reverse 9-1-1 and social media, as necessary. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance.
Mayor Jon Hornik
