Winter Storm #5
Update #3
February 18, 2019
Dear Resident,
In preparation for the winter storm system forecasted for our area on Wednesday, Marlboro Public Works is applying brine solution to main and major secondary roadways. The forecast remains largely unchanged from yesterday, with the National Weather Service projecting snow to begin on Wednesday morning and end by the evening, leaving up to 3 inches of accumulation. With warming temperatures, the snow is forecasted to turn to rain and continue into the overnight. Public Works stands ready to mobilize additional resources if and when the need arises.
Marlboro’s Office of Emergency Management reminds you that Town ordinance requires that all vehicles be removed from the street when the road is snow covered. During last week’s storm, the Police were called to 21 accidents on Route 18. Please slow down, allow extra time and to leave additional space between you and other vehicles.
We have been in contact with JCP&L and they are prepared to activate their storm response and incident command plan should it be required. In the event outages occur due to severe weather, customers without power are encouraged to report their outage by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com, or by texting out to 544487.
Customers should immediately report downed wires to 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) or call Marlboro Police at 732-536-0100. JCP&L reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity.
Marlboro’s Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor the storm system and will report back with updates as they become available.
Mayor Jon Hornik
