Tropical Storm Isaias Update #4
RE: Power Outage and Charging Station
Dear Resident,
I have been in contact with our JCP&L representative. Crews are in Marlboro, removing trees and restoring power lines. However, with the number of power outages throughout New Jersey following this storm, JCP&L is predicting a multi-day outage for many of us. It will most likely be tomorrow before they are able to provide estimated repair times.
If you have not done so, please report your outage to JCP&L as it allows them to isolate outages and confirm directly with you when power is restored. At this time, their website is down, so please report by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877). When the website is back up, you can visit their “Report Outage” link HERE. Please do NOT call the police for updates. They do not have additional information and their lines must stay open for emergencies.
The Marlboro Recreation Center (1996 Recreation Way off of Wyncrest Road) will be open as a charging and cooling center this evening from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and will reopen again tomorrow morning at 9:00 am. Some of you may recall that following Superstorm Sandy, and after experiencing more than a week of power outages, we obtained a $250,000 grant from FEMA to outfit the Recreation Center with full backup generator capabilities. This allows the building to serve residents during weather emergencies just like this one.
Please enter the Recreation Center through the side entrance (follow signs to ‘Gym’). Tables, chairs and charging strips are throughout the gym to allow residents to charge electronics, medical devices, etc. To keep everyone safe, face coverings/masks must be worn and social distancing is required. As we remain under a State Public Health Emergency, note that you may be asked to wait outside in order for us to adhere to the recommended limits on indoor gatherings. Please do not bring food or drink onto the Recreation Center.
Some roads are still closed. Please drive safely and obey all traffic directions and detours. Stay safe. We will update you tomorrow.
