Weekend Update
Dear Resident,
Last week, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for our area with high winds and hail possible. One mile to our west had tornado warnings and, in fact, it was confirmed that a tornado touched down in nearby Mercer County damaging buildings and displacing at least 75 residents. Storms often arrive with little warning and so I am reminding residents to take the time to plan and prepare now. Visit the NJ OEM website and review the ‘Surviving the Snow’ in the Recycling calendar (HERE) on page 22 and 23, providing important websites and phone numbers for various emergencies. Please do not wait until weather strikes to have an emergency plan in place.

NOTICES
Fire Hydrant Flushing – Gordons Corner Water will begin spring fire hydrant flushing on March 6, weather permitting. For more, please view the notice on their website at www.gordonscornerwater.com or call their office during business hours. (Marlboro Water Utility will begin hydrant flushing in April).
Medicare State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIP) – Free, unbiased help for Medicare planning for recipient, beneficiary or caretaker. FLYER
If you are on Medicare and meet income guidelines, you may be eligible for assistance. FLYER.
NJ Property Tax Reimbursement (PTR or Senior Freeze) – Applications have been mailed out from the State. Please see the letter HERE for additional information including a link to the state website.
Brush Collection – Brush collection is nearing completion and once done, no lawn debris may be curbside. If you have debris curbside you may bring it to the recycling center (no permit or fee) or hire a private contractor to remove it. To ensure the safety of our streets and to prevent flooding, please review the regulations on page 10 of the Recycling Calendar or in the email HERE.
Leaf Collection (Bagged Only) – Bagged leaf collection will begin by zone at the end of March. We remind residents that free leaf bags are available. Simply reserve on line HERE. The ‘Leaf Bag’ link can be found on the homepage under ‘Quick Links and Actions’.
Inclement Weather Notice - We remind residents that the winter months bring a greater chance of inclement weather, all curbside collections are weather permitting and are subject to cancellations or rescheduling by the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management. Notice will be made via email and social media. For that reason, items may not be placed curbside more than once week prior to your scheduled pickup week. We thank you for your cooperation.

- Swim Club registration opened Tuesday, February 28th at 9am. FLYER
- Lifeguard Certification Classes - Summer Job needed? Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or Recertification) available at the Marlboro Swim Club. You do not have to be a swim club member to take the class. Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Must be age 15 by end of class. FLYER

Economic Development Committee (EDC) – Are you creative with a background in marketing, website or business development? Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) – The Marlboro Township Police Department is currently seeking volunteers to serve on the DVRT. In affiliation with 180 Turning Lives Around (180), and with the assistance of the response team volunteers, the Marlboro Police Department continues to make this free, 24/7 confidential service available to victims of domestic violence in the aftermath of a highly emotional and traumatic experience. First Aid Squads Need You! Give back to your community and learn invaluable life skills. Marlboro and Morganville First Aid Squads offer free EMT certification and driver training to recruits, and active membership also qualifies volunteers for discounts on various Township fees and memberships and an annual contribution towards an individual retirement-type program. PUBLIC SAFETY
Safety Update – Please remember to lock your car doors, take the key fobs inside, remove garage door openers, lock your doors and set alarms. If you have not yet done so request an ‘I Took the Pledge’ lawn sign and download the ‘Neighbors’ app. Most importantly, if you see anything out of place or suspicious call the police at 732-536-0100. Marlboro Home Improvement Program – If you live in Marlboro, own your home and your total gross household income is within limits (you are not required to live in affordable housing) you may be eligible for up to $20,000 in repairs for items such as heating/electrical, roofs, plumbing, weatherization and more. Alarm Registration open for 2023 - The form for alarm registration can be found HERE.
Commuter Parking Renewal – Parking spot renewal has begun and an email with renewal instructions has been sent to those with current parking spaces and is linked HERE. Renewals must be completed by March 31, 2023.
COVID-19 Ratepayer Relief Measures – Measures are in place to provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program. Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.
Rainy weather is expected from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Please slow down, leave extra time and do not drive through standing water. Be safe and enjoy the weekend.
