Weekend Update

Dear Resident,

As we enter the final weeks of 2022, please note the following schedule adjustments for Christmas/New Year’s week.  Municipal Offices and the Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, December 26 (Christmas Day observed) and Monday, January 2 (New Year’s Day observed). The recycling center will be open normal hours on December 24 and January 31.  The drop box in the Town Hall lobby is available 24/7 and many services are available on-line HERE. The police are open 24/7 and can be reached at 732-536-0100. Emergencies (crimes in progress) dial 911.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Porch Pirates – Don’t let Porch Pirates get to your deliveries before you do.  Here are some tips to prevent theft of your holiday packages:  Prevent Package Thefts 

Vacation Safety – Add safety to your packing list.  Register for a free police security check to request extra patrols while you are away. Request this service by reading the WAIVER FORM and completing the REQUEST FOR SECURITY CHECK. Be social media savvy. Don’t post requests that give away your schedule and wait until you are home to post pictures of your vacation. Arrange for packages to be delayed, delivered elsewhere or collected by a neighbor and do the same for mail.

Safety Update – Please remember to lock your car doors, take the key fobs inside, remove garage door openers, lock your doors and set alarms.  If you have not yet done so request an ‘I Took the Pledge’ lawn sign and download the ‘Neighbors’ app.  To read more about how we, as a community, are working together to keep our home and property safe, click HERE.

NOTICES

The Department of Public Works has completed curbside piled leaf collection. If you still have leaves curbside, you may bring them to the recycling center, hire a private contractor to remove them, or bag them for January collection. Direct questions to

December Bagged Leaf Collection - Leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags. Zones 1, 8, 6 & 7 will be the week of December 19.  Zones 3, 5, 2 & 4 will be collected the week of December 26.  The Township provides 25 leaf bags to every home at no charge. Simply complete the SDL form HERE and bring the emailed permit with you to DPW Monday to Friday from 7am to 2:30 pm.

Inclement Weather Notice - Please note that there will be another bagged leaf collection to coincide with Christmas Tree collection in January.  Details to follow.  We remind residents that, as we enter the winter months and the greater chance of inclement weather, all curbside collections are weather permitting and are subject to cancellations or rescheduling by the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management.  Notice will be made via email and social media. For that reason, items may not be placed curbside more than once week prior to your scheduled pickup week.  We thank you for your cooperation. 

The official 2023 Recycling Calendar is now available on line HERE and is being mailed to your home.  Look for red and green cardstock cover with the words ‘Official Township Calendar’ in red.  Please use throughout the year as it answers the most frequently asked recycling questions. 

PROGRAMS AND EVENTS

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Opportunities for all ages and interests are available.  Learn more HERE.

Affordable Housing and Rent Control Board – The AHA is charged with implementing policies and goals of the Township’s Affordable Housing ordinance.  The AHA works with the administrative agent and the AHA attorney to ensure compliance.  Meetings are held monthly on a Tuesday evening.  To learn more, please complete the CSA Form HERE.  

First Aid Squads Need You! Give back to your community and learn invaluable life skills.   Marlboro and Morganville First Aid Squads offer free EMT certification and driver training to recruits, and active membership also qualifies volunteers for discounts on various Township fees and memberships and an annual contribution towards an individual retirement-type program.  Want to learn more? ANNOUNCEMENTS

Pet License and Alarm Registration is CLOSED until 2023.  The new forms will be available in the new year. 

Parking Spots Available – There are parking spots available at our commuter lots. For more information, and to secure a parking spot please visit the parking portal, linked HERE.

ANCHOR Program (Date Extended!) – This replaces the Homestead Benefits program and provides property tax relief to NJ residents who owned or rented their principal residence and meet the income requirements.  Filing deadline is now January 31, 2023 and renters whose units are under a PILOT agreement are now eligible.  For more, visit the state website HERE.   

COVID-19 Ratepayer Relief Measures –Measures are in place to provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program.  Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.
