Weekend Update – Memorial Day Edition
Dear Resident,
Words cannot express the sorrow that I feel for the nineteen children and two teachers that were killed at the elementary school in Uvalde Texas this week. As a Mayor, and as a father, events like this are my worst nightmare. These horrific acts change families and communities forever. The scars never heal.
There is nothing more important to me than keeping our kids, teachers, and administrators safe in Marlboro Schools. To that end, we continue to have Marlboro Police and School Resource Officers in all of Marlboro Schools - a program that we have had in place since the 2012 Sandy Hook Shooting. In an abundance of caution, I requested an enhanced police presence in our Schools in the days following the tragic event. I am grateful that the Marlboro Police are protecting our Schools, and I pray for the safety of our community. Our flags will be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect for the victims of this tragedy, and will return to full staff at sunset on May 28, 2022.
MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY AND HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Town Hall Municipal offices and the recycling center will be CLOSED on Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. The recycling center will be open regularly scheduled hours on Saturday, May 28 from 8am to 4pm.
Wreath Laying Ceremony – Please join us for a Memorial Day ceremony honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The ceremony will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 at 10am at our Veterans Memorial in front of Town Hall. All ages are welcome.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Lock Your Car. Take Your Fob. Report Suspicious Activity –Please continue to lock your car, remove your key fob and keep valuables out of site. The 'See Something, Say Something and We Will Do Something' initiative continues to be effective and I thank all residents for your support and cooperation. Please do not hesitate. If you see something suspicious or out of place, call the police.

Brush and Bulk Collection Complete - Brush and bulk collection is now complete for all zones and the Marlboro Summer Roads program will begin. No lawn debris may be curbside until fall. Brush and leaves may be removed by a private contractor or brought to the recycling center throughout the year with no fee or permit required. Bulk items may also be brought to the recycling center with the free on-line permit HERE. Please direct questions to

SART Training to Support Survivors of Sexual Violence – Application deadline May 31! The Marlboro Police Department is offering SART training for those interested in volunteering to assist victims of sexual violence. For more details, please see the FLYER.

COVID-19 Ratepayer Relief Measures –Measures are in place to provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program. Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.
NJ State Parks Free – Beginning this weekend through the rest of the year, entrance fees at more than 50 state parks are waived, resident or not. A refund will be automatically processed for those who purchased an annual state park pass. More from NJ DEP HERE.
