WINTER STORM WATCH – Update #1
Dear Resident,
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a briefing for two winter weather events. For our area, today’s weather event will consist of mostly rain with a change of sleet or snow mixing in early afternoon. We are under a Winter Storm Watch for the second event beginning Wednesday, December 16 at 7am until Thursday, December 17 at 7am. As of this morning’s briefing, confidence is fairly high that the storm will occur, however there is great uncertainty for our area with snow totals dependent on whether the snow changes over or mixes with rain or sleet. Gusty winds are also a possibility.
The Marlboro Office of Emergency Management (OEM) continues to keep an eye on this changeable forecast and reminds you to plan and prepare. Ordinance dictates that all cars, basketball hoops, etc. must be removed from the roadway when the roads are snow covered. Please secure outdoor decorations or any other object that may become projectiles in the case of high winds.
At this time all curbside collections continue as scheduled. Please review the Township’s ‘Surviving the Snow’ in the centerfold of the recycling calendar mailed to your home, posted on line and linked HERE . It includes important numbers, websites and snow tips. We will continue to monitor the weather and update as more becomes available. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe.
