Weekend Update

Dear Resident,

As we head into August and summer vacation plans we remind residents that you can register for a free vacation safety check to request extra patrols while you are away.  Take basic steps to protect your home.  Be social media savvy. Posting requests for services with specific dates detailed (dog walkers, for example) give away your schedule and make you a target for bad actors. We all want to share our pictures, but wait until you are home to post.  Arrange for packages to be delayed, delivered elsewhere or collected by a neighbor and do the same for mail.  See the ‘Public Safety’ section below for the links to request the security check and a ‘Take the Pledge’ lawn sign.  Together, we can make a difference.    

National Night Out will be held this Tuesday, August 2 from 6-9pm in the Cambridge Square Parking lot. Join us for an evening of police and first responder demonstrations, games and fun as we promote our strong police-community partnership.  Details below.

NOTICE FROM THE TAX COLLECTOR

Annual Tax Bills UPDATE – The certified tax rate has been received from the State of New Jersey and the annual tax bills will be mailed shortly.  In the meantime, current property tax information is now available for viewing and paying on our website HERE. The grace period for 3rd quarter property taxes (due August 1st) has been extended to August 22nd. Note that interest charges on payments made after the grace period are calculated back to the August 1 due date. Payments can be made online, via email or by using the 24/7 drop box available in the Town Hall vestibule 24/7 or at the tax office. 

RECREATION EVENTS AND PROGRAMS

Show Us Your Wheels! Have an antique, vintage, classic or just a really cool car you want to show off? Join Marlboro’s first ever car show scheduled for August 14 as an addition to our concert series.  No charge to participate, but pre-registration is needed.  Email for details.  Please include contact and car information.

Swim Club ‘Dog Days of Summer’ Reduced Rates – Registration is open now for membership beginning July 25.  There are still 43 days left of summer fun! Click the flyer for rates and a QR code to join.  FLYER

Fall Recreation Soccer: Registration is now open for boys and girls, 3 years old through 12th grade.  See attached for details. FLYER NOTE: registration closes August 17. 

Marlboro High School Soccer Coaches Camp: Presenting “Playmaking and Finishing,” a soccer camp held by the Marlboro High School soccer coaches August 8 – 12.  See attached for details. FLYER

PUBLIC SAFETY

National Night Out – Join the Marlboro Police for this national event celebrating police/community partnership.  This free, family event will be held on Tuesday, August 2 from 6pm – 9pm at the Cambridge Square parking lot (Union Hill and Route 9).  Demonstrations from police, fire and EMS, vendors, music and more. Vacation Safety Check - Register for a free police security check to request extra patrols while you are away. Request this service by reading the WAIVER FORM and completing the REQUEST FOR SECURITY CHECK.

Take the Safety Pledge – Thank you to the residents who already took the pledge. If you took the pledge and your sign was not yet delivered, send an email to .   If you have not yet taken the pledge, click HERE for QR codes to set up and account and request the pledge lawn sign. Don’t let your guard down! Continue to lock your car, remove your key fob and keep valuables that are left in your car out of sight.  The 'See Something, Say Something and We Will Do Something' initiative continues to be effective and I thank all residents for your support and cooperation.  Please do not hesitate. If you see something suspicious or out of place, call the police.

First Aid Squads Need You! Give back to your community and learn invaluable life skills.   Marlboro and Morganville First Aid Squads offer free EMT certification and driver training to recruits, and active membership also qualifies volunteers for discounts on various Township fees and memberships and an annual contribution towards an individual retirement-type program.  Want to learn more? PROGRAMS AND EVENTS

ANNOUNCEMENTS

It’s Electric! Check out incentives for purchasing or installing a charging station.  ‘Charge Up NJ’ recently announced a rebate of up to $4,000 for the lease or purchase of an electric vehicle.  The JCP&L program for residential charging HERE and State and Federal programs are noted HERE.   Our building department reminds residents that, just like any other electrical installation, home charging stations require a permit.  More HERE.  

CCOs and Planning Ahead - Please note that we are in the busy season for CCOs and our Community Development Team asks that you plan ahead.  Please see ways to speed the CCO process, how to report property maintenance concerns and report potholes online HERE.   

Recycling Collections – From time to time schedule adjustments must be made.  Notices are sent email and social media and posted on the website homepage.   As per the recycling calendar, if your recycling is not picked up, leave your bin curbside and send an email with your address to

COVID-19 Ratepayer Relief Measures –Measures are in place to provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program.  Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.

The Marlboro Farmers Market is scheduled to be open as usual this Sunday.  Stay safe, remember to hydrate and have a great weekend.
