Storm Updates

April 19, 2023

Wednesday, April 26, 2023 – JCP&L will be performing patrols on transmission lines throughout their region. These inspections are anticipated to take approximately four to five days to complete, but as always, work is weather dependent, and completion could be impeded by any post-storm or outage-related patrols that may occur.  The helicopter to be used for these patrols Blue Bell 2-6 Jet Ranger, Tail number – N719CB.

February 4, 2023 2/4/2023 JCP&L has been reporting a power outage since early morning.
Effective immediately the Marlboro Recreation Center is open as a warming and charging station. JCP&L is on site and repairs are being made. Please report your outage to 888 LIGHTSS so you receive notice of when power is back on at your home. The rec center will be open until power is restored.
Stay warm and safe. Mayor Jon Hornik
January 20, 2023

Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) Chesapeake Bay Helicopters will be mobilizing to the JCPL region to begin performing comprehensive visual inspections (CVIs) on all JCPL 500kV and 230kV lines. The helicopter  is white w/black and red stripes, Hughes MD500 with red tail registration number.

A comprehensive visual inspection (CVI) is a slow, structure-by-structure, span-by-span inspection where the inspector onboard the helicopter gets a thorough look from top to bottom of each structure, associated hardware, and conductors of the transmission line(s). The helicopter will be moving very slowly along each of the transmission lines and will often be seen hovering while carrying out these inspections.

The inspections are expected to begin on or about January 20, 2023 and to take approximately six weeks to complete, however, any storm or outage-related patrols could prolong completion.
